A year of compliance support, at no cost, for one nonprofit each year.
Mission-driven affordable housing organizations face the same compliance requirements as larger owners, often with a fraction of the resources. Each year, Altus partners with one nonprofit to provide a full year of compliance services at no cost.

Why this program exists
Mission-aligned housing deserves compliance support.
Affordable housing exists to provide stable, safe housing to people who need it. Compliance work, done well, is part of how that mission is sustained. Errors that lead to material noncompliance don't just affect owners. They affect the housing supply itself.
Many of the organizations doing this work most effectively are small, mission-driven nonprofits operating without compliance capacity. They face the same regulatory complexity as a regional owner, with less budget, fewer staff, and higher exposure when something goes wrong.
The Annual Partner Program is our way of supporting that work directly. One nonprofit each year, twelve months of full compliance partnership, at no cost.
What the partnership includes
A full year of practitioner support.
Annual Partners receive comprehensive compliance support across the full engagement year.
- Comprehensive compliance assessment at the start of the engagement
- Cleanup of identified compliance issues within scope
- Ongoing file review across the year
- Support through one full recertification cycle
- Preparation support for any state agency monitoring during the year
- Annual NSPIRE pre-inspections
- Training sessions for the organization's team
- Direct access to Altus for compliance questions throughout
Program limits
What the partnership does not cover.
Some scope is excluded from the Annual Partner Program. Partners may engage Altus for these on a paid basis:
- Travel and on-site visits (available at cost if needed)
- Legal counsel or representation
- Software licensing for HousingIntellect or other platforms
- Work outside the agreed engagement scope
Eligibility
Who can apply.
The Annual Partner Program is designed for small to mid-sized mission-driven affordable housing nonprofits.
- 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the United States
- Mission focused on providing or supporting affordable housing
- Portfolio of 1 to 250 affordable housing units
- Annual operating budget under $5 million
- Demonstrated active compliance need
- Internal capacity to engage with Altus throughout the year
- Operates in at least one major affordable housing program

How we choose each year's partner.
We review all qualifying applications against criteria that reflect both the organization's need and the likelihood of meaningful impact.
Compliance need
Severity and specificity of the compliance need.
Engagement capacity
Capacity of the organization to work productively with us.
Impact potential
Likelihood of long-term improvement to the organization's compliance health.
Diversity
Geographic and program diversity year over year. We aim to serve different communities each year.
